Advanced Oilfield Technology Company LLC (AOTC) in collaboration with the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) conducted a successful emergency evacuation mock drill involving all AOTC employees at Rusayl Industrial Estate on Tuesday. The exercise was in line with AOTC’s initiative to ensure constant preparedness for any emergency to provide a safe environment for all the employees working in AOTC.
The primary purpose of the drill was to check the functionality of all parts of AOTC’s safety system, and the adequacy of procedures and instructions for such critical events. Furthermore, it was a refresher course for AOTC’s employees to see if they have the necessary knowledge to take appropriate action in the event of a real emergency (what to do when the alarm is activated), and to teach them the correct procedures, and thereby ensure maximum safety in case of a real unexpected, dangerous event. Around 600 employees and external service providers conducted the drill in accordance with the prescribed emergency action plan, and evacuated the building in the shortest possible time.
Mr. Shakil Hasan, General Manager (AOTC) said, “Accidents cannot be predicted and may happen without a warning. Hence, we need to be prepared with constant alertness and proper trainings.” An important part of AOTC’s history is our responsibility for both clients and the health and safety of our employees, as well as that of the local community and natural environment where we live and work. As part of our responsibility, we also evaluate our competence and operational readiness in the event of a natural or other emergency. Therefore, we hold regular fire and evacuation drills at all our sites across Oman to check our readiness and train our employees.
Mr. Shakil appreciated the initiative of AOTC HSE Department and also thanked the Department of Civil Defence & Ambulance of Sultanate of Oman for the cooperation and participation in this drill.
The evacuation drill was successful and met the purpose of increasing awareness and preparedness amongst the employees.
